The Encyclopaedia Britannica 2003 Ultimate Reference Edition is an unparalleled source of information for your whole family. Owners of previous Britannica CD/DVD editions will discover more choices for acquiring knowledge than ever before.
Because Britannica 2003 now includes three Libraries, each member of your family, from seven to seventy years old, can find useful information.
Choose a Library based on your reading level before searching or browsing. All Search Results and Browse options come from one of the three Britannica Libraries.
If you don't find what you need in one Library, simply click another Library at the top left of the program window. If you've entered search words, new Search Results automatically appear for the Library you selected.
Britannica 2003 includes substantially more video. A good portion of the video is from the Internet, and you must be connected to the Internet to access it. Our videos help you learn more and enjoy more!
Previous editions of Britannica have allowed you to search our editorially selected Internet sites. Now you can search for articles from renown Internet magazines in addition to quality Web sites.
To help you with your writing, we've included a thesaurus reference. Simply type a word in the Search entry box, click Go, and select Thesaurus Search Results to find an alternate word choice.
Britannica 2003 provides an easy-to-use Control Panel on the left side of the program window. All Search and Browse options are on the Control Panel. It's always available, and you can use arrow controls to hide and reveal portions of the panel.
The right side of the program window has been freed up as a Workspace. You can open any number of articles, images, atlas maps, thesaurus terms, or other content in the Workspace. Drag Workspace windows around and use their controls to minimize, maximize, or close them. Use the arrows on the divider bar between the Workspace and the Control Panel to expand and contract the Workspace.
